Vikings Football Advances in 4A State Playoffs

The Sunnyslope Vikings football squad advanced to the second round of the 4A-II state playoffs with a convincing 41 to 13 win over the Colts from Cortez High School.

Quarterback Sean Maraz led the charge with 6 touchdown passes. TJ Campbell continued his stellar performance this season by being on the receiving end of two long TD passes. Roby Owsley, Eddie Naser, and Beau Grado (who also had two td reseptions) helped the Vikings take control of the game.

The Vikings second round opponent will be the Bulldogs from Queen Creek High School. Queen Creek is located at 22149 E. Ocotillo Road.
The Game starts at 7:00 pm and advance tickets are being sold at school.

Lady Vikings on Their Way to State

The Sunnyslope Lady Vikings volleyball team defeated Douglas High School Tuesday night by scores of 25 – 3 and 25 – 7 to advance to the quarter finals of the 4A –II state volleyball tournament. The pesky Bulldogs from Douglas High School, located south of Tucson, gave a valiant effort in the first round of the state tournament, but were no match for the high flying Vikings.

Sunnyslope, ranked 2nd in the state in 4A – II and 4th overall in 4A and 5A will play their next opponent, Cortez High School, in the quarterfinals at the new Glendale Arena, home of the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team, this Friday at 5:30 pm. The times are approximant.  Glendale Arena is located at Glendale Ave and 101.
